When a man removes from his mind all desire, and when he is satisfied in the Self through himself, it is said that he is firm in his understanding. The person who does not get involved in sorrow nor indulgence in pleasures, who has left any desire, attraction, fear or anger; this person is firm in his wisdom. The person who is not affected by any external thing – whether good or bad, and who does not hate nor entertain ephemeral joys – is truly wise.
