My name is Jacky and I am an ordinary being.

With my time, I travel, learn, live, think, read, write, explore, exercise, play, interact with others, experience the beauty that is our world, and try to understand the true nature of her creations. I exist in a constant state of change – in my thoughts and thus my relation to the world. Adaptation is my mean of living and a critical force behind my growth.

I pursue an uncommon lifestyle that is not endorsed by the dictatorial, monotonic mainstream culture. I choose to live on the margins of society, both physically and mentally. Here, I am an individual free of corruptions to formulate my own thoughts and pursue directions suited to my predisposition. Here, I experience the real depth of living and my senses are unified to be in harmony with the universal energy. Here, I rediscover a world with untainted beauty and the experience of being alive.

The one who knows Ātman (the individual Supreme Self) does not identify with his body. He remains in it as in a vehicle; if people create for him conditions of comfort and luxury, he will enjoy them and will play with them as a child. He can wear both expensive clothes or rags. He can seem like a fool or a child; sometimes he can behave as a sage. Sometimes he is silent, at other times he attracts many people around him. Sometimes people honor him with greatness, at other times they insult or ignore him. He has no riches and still is always content. He acts and still is not enslaved by action. He seems to be an individual being and still is present in everything, everywhere.

– Adi Shankara

I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings. In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.

– Henry David Thoreau, Walden

Thank you Jacky, reading about you brought to mind a quote from Richard “The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof” and also how he once described his best friends tended to people he never met. I could have written what you said of yourself)), all the best for you,

How beautiful and touching Andy. The quote you mentioned is one of my personal favorite and I resonated strongly to it because of my current lifestyle. Blessings and love to you 🙂

    Hi Jacky-

I had been looking for a blog like yours. I am always searching for people who resonate on a similar plane as I do, and while that may or may not be true of you, I appreciated coming across your blog. My path is one of awakening. It’s been hard- I resist my Self all the time. Knowing that there are others out there that seek to live beyond the realms of our societies and cultures gives me strength.

Thanks for your heartwarming comment Aleta! Isn’t it wonderful that people can connect like this these days? Your words express my heart’s desires, and likewise, thank you for giving me strength to follow my path. Looking forward to reading up on your journey of awakening. Love and light to you! 🙂

My heart holds within every form, it contains a pasture for the gazelles, a monastery for Christian monks. There is a temple for idol-worshipers, a holy shrine for pilgrims; there is the table of the Torah and the book of Koran. I follow the religion of love or go whichever way his camel leads me. This is the true faith. This is the true religion. – Ibn Arabi
